Pendant Forging Workshop- Half Day

$160 per student includes all materials and snacks

October 27 or November 3

9:30-12:30 in my Seattle Studio

Do you want to give blacksmithing a try while making a small piece of wearable art? Come join me and we will forge small sculptural pendants and learn some basics of moving hot steel. You will learn how to taper, bend, scroll and twist tiny steel and end up with a pendant or two to take home to wear!

The class will be 3 hours long and all materials will be provided. Need some team building at your job? Want to hang out with your buddy and learn something new? Maybe met new people and see what swinging a hammer feels like? Create your own group of 4 people or come on your own!  Please reserve at least one week ahead of time.  The class fee covers materials, safety equipment,  gas for the forge and snacks.

This is specifically a pendant class.  You may have extra time to play, but I will not be able to support or guide other types of projects during this workshop. Please look at my full offerings of classes to see what is the best fit for you.

You will need to be able to : stand for the majority of the class, be comfortable trying new things, have enough strength to use a 2 pound hammer. (a can of beans is about the same weight). Forging is a physically intense process, however you do NOT need to be big and strong like a lumberjack, but you will exert yourself. I focus on ergonomics and safety, you focus on being brave and having fun.  Also since we will be working with tiny metal, this really won't be a huge physical challenge!

Belt and Buckle Workshop- FULL DAY

Cost is $345 per student which includes all materials, snacks, and a once in a lifetime experience.

Oct 13

9:30-4 in my Seattle studio

Forge your own belt buckle and belt!  You will use hot metal techniques including pressing, forging and welding to make your own buckle in my awesome blacksmithing shop in south Seattle. Then you will head over to the leather working area and make your very own beautiful leather belt to go with the buckle.

End of class- your pants stay up and you get to say you made the whole set up yourself!

This is specifically a belt and buckle class. You may have extra time to play, but I will not be able to support or guide other types of projects during this workshop. Please look at my full offerings of classes to see what is the best fit for you.

You will need to be able to : stand for a majority of the day, be ready to get dirty, be focused on the process and having fun versus a perfect final project, be ready to try something new! The class is one long day;  expect to learn a lot, laugh, and generally have a great time.

I am glad to answer any of your questions before you sign up for the class.  I need reservations by one week before the class.  If you have your own group of 4-5 people, we can schedule a day that works for you.
